Everything Casa Arkaana is today began with trust — trust that the universe provides, protects, and unfolds in its own time.
Maja and Asdru got married in Bacalar ten years ago. They both knew they wanted to build something meaningful in this part of Mexico — not just a home, but a space where healing, sustainability, and community could grow together.
They spent three years searching for the right land. Both are permaculture designers. Both walk with plant wisdom. They weren't looking for a property — they were looking for land that wanted to be part of the work.
Seven years later, Casa Arkaana has hosted over 40 retreats, welcomed hundreds of guests from around the world, and become home — not just to their family, but to every group that arrives. The jungle chose them. They've been listening ever since.
Casa Arkaana is a platform for healing, learning, and community. A place where people can come to transform what needs transforming — and be supported along the way.
We believe that the land itself heals. That living close to nature — caring for water, honouring the traditions of this region, and working toward food sovereignty — is not a retreat from life, but a return to it. Everything here is designed to remind you of that: the solar energy, the cenote water, the open architecture, the ceremonies held under the same sky our ancestors looked up to.
Our mission is simple: become self-sustainable, build real community, and inspire people to reconnect — with themselves, with nature, and with what truly matters.
01
Everything we do is rooted in family. How we live, how we host, how we hold space.
02
We honour the indigenous practices and ancestral wisdom that guide our work.
03
Living with the land, not against it. Every decision considers what we leave behind.
04
We say what we mean. No overclaims, no performance. What you see is what we are.
05
People need to feel safe to do deep work. We're intentional about who enters this space and how we hold it.
06
We believe that reconnecting with the natural world is itself a form of healing.
We're building toward resilience. Toward a Casa Arkaana that grows much of its own food — fruit trees, chickens, goats, ducks — real food systems rooted in the land. A space where the team feels as nourished as the guests. Where people come not just for a paycheck, but because they believe in this way of living — they connect with the land, they grow, they feel their work matters, and they're well rewarded for it.
We want to support the surrounding communities. Stay congruent with everything we do. And keep inspiring people — not from a stage, but from the soil.
